28th Meeting of the Unmanned Aircraft Systems Airworthiness Regulatory Framework Working Group, 11-13 September 2024, in Athens

From 11 to 13 September 2024, the 28th Meeting of the Unmanned Aircraft Systems Airworthiness Regulatory Framework Working Group of the European Defence Agency was held at the Officers’ Club of the Armed Forces, under the auspices of the HNMAA. Representatives from EDA member states, specifically from Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, and Switzerland, as well as representatives from NATO and EASA, participated in the meeting.

The Working Group, chaired by the Greek national representative, focused on developing a common, harmonised European regulatory framework for the certification and airworthiness assurance of military Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) during their development, production, and operational use.

On 12 September 2024, the session was open to the domestic defence industry and representatives of the Armed Forces. Industry representatives presented their capabilities in the design and certification of UAS, while also expressing comments and concerns regarding the current regulatory framework and areas for improvement.
